The Intricate Production Process Behind Jacques Marie Mage Eyewear
The process by which Jacques Marie Mage eyewear is made involves 300 steps, nearly 100 artisans, and over 5 months. These remarkable numbers hint at why each pair is considered a luxury collectible. And why Jacques Marie Mage is the eyewear of choice for celebrities.
JMM frames are produced in either acetate or titanium. Acetate is a plant-based material that is hypoallergenic and durable. Artisans cut frame fronts and temples from blocks of premium cellulose acetate, and tumble them in barrels of bamboo wood chips. They are then meticulously hand-polished to give them a smooth, lustrous finish. Lastly, a 20-point measurement test for all fit speciations is conducted to ensure there are zero production flaws.
JMM titanium frames are lightweight and sophisticated. They are made via a different process that involves metal presses, using up to 350 tons of pressure to fashion titanium into precise parts. These titanium parts are then purified in a sonic bath to eliminate any oil or grease that may impact welding. Once welded, the frame is hand-polished by an artisan before undergoing a 20-point measurement test as well.
